1.5 years into being a founder: my biggest surprise has been the physical toll. Any others go through the same journey? 6 hours in a desk chair, 8 hours laying down on my couch, 14 hour work days. Trying to fix that now! But it’s like starting at square one. If I run 3 miles I’m wiped.

I didnt know that serious injuries could happen from sitting and typing too much. I’ve always had good cardio habits but Founding has taught me the preventative and healing power of yoga. Don’t know how I could make it without it.

Nothing dogmatic, just consistency: - consistent sleep (min 7-8 hours every day) - consistent diet (eat simple, fewer ingredients, lightly cooked) - less (ideally no) alcohol - consistent movement routine — I like walking, stretching and Pilates - sunlight and fresh air / breaks from screen

Bro congrats on the powerful realization to change your habits! This is literally step 1. Don’t even worry about the three miles 😌 Start by reducing sugar man. Lots of water. Nice sleep. Get out of the house, even 20 minutes a day, and WALK. You can start by walking and moving your arms around like a crazy cringe guy, it is fine. Movement as a basis, from there you’ll build an entire new you 🤩 whenever in need of support or guidance my DCs are open. We got you 🤝👏👏👏

Ran into the same issues - for me it was more diet than my exercise.

Yes both physical and mental health have had some major ups and downs What's helped me: - Standing desk for all meetings - Desk treadmill and/or daily walks - Doing light physical activities during the weekends - Getting at least 6 hours of sleep every night unless there are fires

yeah it's brutal. Def something you need to prioritize, but easier said than done.... Walks are good though. Great for thinking, good movement. Sometimes I try to do 25m pomos with 2-3m of movement inbetween, but I always inevitably fall off the wagon

agree with this! I began the long trek back towards above average a few months ago after realizing it was taking a toll on me. hope I make it back soon, but feels like it’s taking forever

My RHR was -10 lower on the 1.5 weeks paternity leave (screaming newborn and no outside assistance) I got than the previous 6 months as a FT founder. I put on ~30lbs over 3 years lmao

Have you tried Mike Mentzer’s HIT—lifting heavy weights to failure? Some find it effective compared to traditional cardio like Dr. Cooper’s. It might be worth exploring to see what best fits your goals and preferences! https://www.perplexity.ai/search/c751a650-4b8e-4583-a161-a512485e00da Sources

if you wanna improve that vo2max, i suggest bootcamp and cycle practice at aarmy on broadway! after a couple weeks, you'll find that the running won't wipe you out even. vary it though. yoga/pilates. some sauna. btw, i find that bootcamp/cycle gives me more energy to push thru the day

You can do away with all the chairs and get a standing desk for starters. If you want to sit get a gymnastics ball or anything without backrest. But look man, it's what you eat, it's how you sleep, it's how you train, and so on and so on. The best thing you can do for change is something that you can do consistently all the time, until you die. And over time you will adjust and go with the stuff that works for you. Onwards!
