does anyone else just like…not feel good about their real name lol i know most of you don’t know the name my parents gave me. it’s a nice name in theory but it’s too long and usually pronounced in a weird way that makes me recoil. and most of the shorted versions people use i also dislike. i would almost compare this to some kind of dysmorphia if i may be so bold. i just like my pseudonym more even if it’s weird 😐 at least i picked it myself and it’s pronounceable

Seeing this cast is both funny and odd because during meditation this rise, I went to the moment in NY where @syed one shot figured out your name. I think names carry some energetic weight over them, but we’re always free to choose what we want!

I am adopted and as a result was named twice in my life. I was raised Catholic and at 13 yo I was able to choose my own confirmation name. All told I like my username, awedjob, and its abbreviation, AJ, a lot. What do you want to do about your name?

I felt this way for a while. For some reason, my parents weren't offered a gender reveal in advance. They fully assumed I'd be a boy and prepared the name Robert. When I came out, they were surprised but getting pressured by the hospital to pick the name quickly. They went with an English name they felt was uncommon, but has no deep meaning. They also can't pronounce it and neither can anyone in our home country lol I always envied people who had more meaningful stories behind their names. I've embraced it over time because I feel, with age, I get to define my name rather than the other way around. Tiny is a very cute name by the way.

I ran away from my name for the longest time. It’s only since I had kids that I started reclaiming it . Even now I don’t use it professionally.

This is so interesting that you mention this. I recently watched a video of a channeller talking about how some people don’t naturally love or accept their names because it’s connected to past life experiences and the soul’s journey. The idea was that every word and especially names carries its own energy, so the name you choose (or resonate with) isn’t random. Both of my parents are really particular about names. I love mine, but I still ended up shortening it

I hate my first name tbh. Ive been going by my last name only for about a decade and it's wonderful. People always think it's unique compared to my boring first name

YES! I've disliked my name my entire life. I've most certainly thought of changing it many, many times. Also, because I've had that experience I was super super careful about how I named my kids. Unusual spellings, hard to pronounce, etc = not fun & obviously these things all vary globally but *still* super important. There's also cultures that knew people changed as they aged & built in ceremonies & rituals around those changes. We should be allowed to do what feels right to us.

Do you have a middle name? I have a few friends that go by theirs. I didn’t even know it was their middle name until years later!

Some people shorten my real name and then inadvertently call me by the name of my mother in law. We’re talking but not bffs. Just feels weird I’ve seen also a lot of different spellings of my name.

You know Tiny, I don't like the short name that family got me. My name if Katherine, and all said me "Kathy". In my university era, want change my short name cuz don't like it anymore and put myself "Katho", was a new and fresh version of me. When I traveled to see my family some of my sisters refused to use my name mad still name me Kathy. Hate that, even the husband of one of them makes me cry on Christmas for criticism my name. I took it apart. Today fight a lot for been calling Katho. So I understand that feeling...
