i'm excited to see a fork of farcaster be attempted
there is no double spend problem social so "forking" isn't like in a blockchain where diverging state means incompatible worlds
(the core purpose of global consensus in farcaster is to allow for efficient real time sync between nodes)

Spending money can help with sign ups, i.e. you can pay to get the users to download and go through onboarding.
What it doesn't solve is the most important thing -- retention.

when I was a kid I always wondered why the ski lifts blasted such lame dad rock
