strong opinion, loosely held: AI-generated videos of humans (today) are a huge unlock AND still feel v uncompelling relative to the best creators sure it may work fine for product marketing videos rn and it’ll get magnitudes better but i’m skeptical it will ever match what makes most influencers so influential

Deepfakes are clunky now, but once their fidelity increases, many people will start choosing them over the real deal. It’s like music; folks once swore live shows were unbeatable. Now we know: sometimes the recording hits harder than the concert ever did.

i agree but the next gen always proves such assertions false b/c shifts happen. gen alpha will do that to us ie "what it means to be an influencer" will evolve with these these models/new platforms(mebbe)... something along lines of we shape our tools, in turn they shape us. recent tool: https://seed.bytedance.com/en/seedance

depends on how steady our sense of relationships are I remember thinking that watching someone play video games was so much less compelling than playing them myself, and yet twitch is what it is now I think the ai influencer question comes down to whether we will feel like we have the type of surrogate relationship with AI that we currently do with mass influencers imo it will shift (and likely already is) with generations

Agree, been playing around with VEO3 and most example I see are just copies of what the usual influencers do, nothing original that is sticking yet. Its also very hard to make a very consistent character every time.
