yes, I think that most crypto people want to feel as if they are part of something and this technical language helps them feel as if they are part of an in-group or "tribe" as Jason put it.

the issue is that it is alienating and serves as a barrier to entry, unless users have high willingness to endure friction (which most consumers don't).

I think the clique~iness of crypto matters more to a lot of "insiders" than adoption, so it probably takes people outside of the industry to figure this out first because I don't see many people trying to change the lexicon except maybe farcaster and the few you have named.

eh, we had a tribe for the past decade and hasn't been that successful. 

TYB abstracted away all the crypto terminology and has onboarded more women into crypto than anyone else.

stablecoins, mostly used behind-the-scenes and discussed as "dollars" or "euros", will also be more compelling than $DAI

I actually have flipped my thinking on this over the years. 

I used to agree with your sentiment here but I mostly do not now. 

A tribe is not built by tools or platforms, but by rituals, inside jokes, and a language only its members speak.

I no longer believe that dumbing down the language is the way to scale; it's more about creating wins for everyone who joins the community

This makes me think about the idea that the solution is often psychological rather than technical

We keep focusing on the technical side of things which are amazing, but people are scared of or don’t care about them

If we focus on the psychological and use the same things but present them differently we may explore a more familiar territory and thus people may be more opened to embrace them🌹

It's unfortunate that "minting" ever became a popular term, just call it what it is in context: buying, collecting, tipping, etc.

People say "mint" when they really mean "save to the blockchain", a byproduct of early adopters in the space caring too much about the tech and not enough about the benefits

NFTs are just digital receipts, calling the action of acquiring them "minting" is like saying "I saved something to the Visa database" instead of "I bought something"

The word vault is already used for different purpose and cannot be used for any kind of wallet

Having access to a glossary like this would have made my life much easier when I started dealing with crypto due to the sale of my Generative Art work. If the terms used were the ones suggested in this print, it would be even more incredible.

I'd bet some of the left side speaks more to the average person than the right side.

i.e. if you stop a random person on the street and ask them what a "backend" is, I doubt they will know. Even a "network" is fairly abstract. A "chain" actually has more meat, it's a concept mapped to a physical item.
