So, I think I got banned from the Farcade channel because I posted this. For the past two weeks, the Warpcast UI was being weird and kept putting "Farcade" by default next to the channel selection whenever I tried to cast. As a result I wasn't sure if my casts were sent to my normal "home", or to Farcade. The Warpcast UI is frankly kind of jank, so I didn't want to be too confident I understood it right even looking at my profile. I casted Test doing nothing, then again explicitely setting the channel to Farcade, to see where each cast would end up. I can understand this looking like bot behavior and triggering a ban. But now I'm locked out of posting in the one channel I care about on Farcaster. 😪 (can still reply, but I would like to make a couple posts... soon...) @chuckstock @blackstock @andrewjames @samsteffanina Sorry to ping you, but pretty please, beautiful people of quality, could I please get unbanned? I solemnly swear I shall never TEST anything ever again.

"would be great if [...] was explained more clearly to users" could sum up my entire opinion of Farcaster. It almost feels like there's a deliberate attempt to hide information from people in here. Nothing is explained anywhere, whole team is allergic to docs or accessible content. There's no algo to speak of either, so relevant content doesn't flow naturally to you. You're supposed to either love influencers and spend your life on the app scrolling (and I guess refreshing and reloading the app consistently, because to this day the scrolling still breaks), or have a circle of friends. IMO, for all Farcaster plays with sharing economies type things, their overarching design is tarred by an overarching belief users should be put in two buckets: active content creators, and passive content consumers.

Four pages into Get Your House Right by Marianne Cusato, and it expresses all the meat of Timeless Bullshit, has none of the manipulative human-centered poetry, manages to engage and teach the reader with beautiful drawings and a couple facts, exposes the problem *and* explains it correctly instead of getting lost in the weeds.

You could confuse Farcade for a platform. In fact, it's a MMORPG. With leagues we're now grinding for xp and looking for the best exploits. Just as God (the developers) intended (did not intend).

Perhaps I'm not in the right circles, but I see nobody discussing this: LLMs are incredible at linguistic games. i.e., I yanked my entire game codebase into the context window, then asked Claude to write perk descriptions in haiku form. Not only it did so with results that are fairly poetic, in many cases it captures the essence of the functionality of said perks from the actual code logic tied to it. It does that in a literal second per perk, whereas even the most impressive human would likely need several minutes to get the logic then conjure a haiku for it.

Not sure who thought this was good app placement, but here's my post saying this is not good app placement. Apps should be firstclass citizens, their place should always be front and center, overtaking the feed.
