I’m getting much better at actually clicking unsubscribe on emails. I used to get annoyed when it was too many steps and just throw them in my spam folder. Now I do both and my inbox has become 10% more manageable. At this point, I really want a tool that automatically does this for me. I want to start over. I have 20 years of bad decisions haunting my Gmail account.

I hired an intern while I was in Malaysia (~$6/hour) to sit beside me and unsubscribe to dozens of emails. It took her more than 2 hours!!

with some emails there is an option to unsubscribe directly within the apple mail client. i’m not sure how it works. but it’s the option i prefer

When it works and the sender is acting in good faith, unsubscribe is good. There are some mass mailers that will not only ignore the request, but will also use your unsubscribe request and sell it to other mass mailers. Just sharing some things we’ve learned in the InfoTech dept over the years.

Strongly suggest using an alias to sign up for stuff. I use Simplelogin. Generates a new email for u every time and hides your real email from spam.

I also have several mailboxes, and they are filled with various emails from the services I have used. Now I have started clicking the "unsubscribe" button more often on such emails, and my mailbox is a little cleaner, but there is still a long way to go, considering that it is periodically cluttered by saved emails from various projects that are negligent about the security of their users data. At the same time, it's scary to connect third-party services for cleaning the mail. I saw this service, but I haven't studied the principle of its work yet. I felt that… Tip I learned was to go to search n filter words, type “unsubscribe” then just get rid of the junk you’re tired of seeing…
