I mean it’s typical for the proponents of the bbb (minority) to pass it and win it without even explaining it to majority of the people it affects and maybe a billion+ other indirectly

Seems shortsighted. Wouldn’t you rather win in a democracy through persuasion?

I agree overall, but so many people in the 48% cannot even afford to care (acute in the US, and getting acute in many countries with formerly more social practices).

Unfortunately many of the 48% must run all day for shillings, still care for their family and collapse naked on their bed, exhausted. Do they have energy or mental to review the news? I bet like most of us here, their physiology needs slack time on TikTok or Netflix, then zero on The News, let alone trying to get perspective across media :'(

It's up-hill hard to give a fuck, when it's hard to get a paycheck or service in the first place.

Very interested in crossing with news consumption habits!

I’d love to see the overlap of that 48% with what their news consumption habits are. Between echo chambers and people not seeking real reporting (or scrutinizing what they DO consume!) I’d say apathy toward being informed is as much to blame as floundering media companies. The sad truth is half the country doesn’t give a fuck about any of it til its taking their paycheck, services, etc.

idk, concentrated media like NYT frontpage (which buried BBB) used to be equivalent with Big Three broadcast TV.

the format matters, too, since DVR facilitated so much.

tbqh, I think younger generations need to be enticed to their local races similar to how the NYC primary stole attention. the federal legislature is cooked, even states deal with a lot of overreach, but the only hope we have is working from the bottom-up.

Wild numbers, wish they did some classic side by side - like pop culture hits or other questions.

My general theory is there is a whole lot less incidental contact with politics as the decline in reading newspapers and nightly news etc.

I always quiz the crew to see what penetrates.
