if you're a video creator, i'd love any feedback on my editing / format etc here. trying to dial in a ~3-5 minute builder chat format that is relatively easy to execute and edit. particularly open to "tricks" that could drive engagement (e.g. a better opener). cc @jackwyldes.eth @afrochicks (who also got shoutouts :)

Yeah I think an intro “hook” that could help the pace And I’m a fan of the emphasis camera zoom or reframe Doesn’t have to be a ton but it helps keep viewer engaged Convo was great

re: the hook, it can be as simple as using the quote you pulled “if you’re based you’ll ship” but cut out your question so that it just goes straight into dish saying it, maybe use a stylized edit on him and carry that into a one or two second spot that says something like “Jesse’s builder bites” or whatever you want to call these and then into the chat itself (Hope that made sense)

Hi Jesse, its actually a good edit, For improvements, you can split screen + PAN and Zoom on Host (you) or Guest (Dish), depending on the segment you wanted to emphasis. with caption on different font/stronger color. I suggest to cut shoot also using Square grids on your iphone. The upper part of vid has a lot of space and couldve been maximized. Those basics would go a long way

you might experiment with thumbnails, feature a bold facial reaction or a big, simple headline or something that pops even when small. also, the background music is nice but you can add sound cues to punch up key moments lol

I’d add a header/title on the top, shown only for the first 5 sec, and move the captions to the buttom. Maybe fine tune a bit the colours to match the brand @base

Definitely need a better hook bro, it doesn’t necessarily needs to be related, it just needs to grab attention. Cuts are definitely frequent and good, that helps keeping up with the tempo and make the video seems faster. Since the video is 4 minutes long (which is kind of a lot for nowadays attention span) I would also maybe recommend a “(tap about something) but I’ll show you at the end of the video” so maybe people will stay and listen (or just skip to the end if they need that piece of info) My 2 cents, with love🖤

Don’t talk about Base / Based in the first 5 seconds Have a hook outside of niche or branded terms — e.g. “How did you make your first $10,000 onchain” Builders are easier to look at as hero figures if people know they’re successful (not that money is everything, but it’s one of the best video hooks)

I think others have already mentioned it already, but creating a hook at the start with something like “if you’re based, you’ll ship”. Adding a freeze frame with some text or graphic at the start so it grabs the attention of people scrolling. Music could be a little louder for me, but that’s personal preference. Great job so far. 🙌🏽

love a gooooooud interview. 2 thoughts: 1. put text at the top hooking the viewer to the vid (“Noice used Clanker to launch - Clanker Founder Interview” <-lowkey now that i think about it tho that may be a bad hook because ur vid is so long that it doesn’t solely focus on that part of it… i only thought of it bc of how noice is rlly trending rn so you’ll hook people in just by making the connection between the two… so maybe make more videos with smaller, separate clips of the interview, so each can be categorized? man now ive gone into a whole different rant lol) 2. i encourage zooming in on either of your faces between different cuts / clips, simple way to increase attention rate & doesn’t take too much effort editing wise

+1 on what @afrochicks said, would definitely add video effects as well! helpful for - opening/closing animations - key transition points - key quotes you want to highlight

I'll be in the comments to learn a thing or two. I just watched the whole video and it was smooth, no prolonged intro, just a quick dive. I think it was awesome. But let's wait for the experts.

From my experience, videos should be 10–30 seconds long and always include intrigue, metaphors, and an unexpected ending — without that, most videos will feel boring to 99% of a general audience. I’d keep it like this to spark more questions in the comments.
