I have had a massive perspective change on crypto. I spent the last 2 months learning the AI dev tools (8-12 hours a day) and rethinking how Product Development works in the age of AI. Most of the AI development community is outside of crypto and that forced me to break outside the bubble and engage deeply with other emerging technology and technologist. I have not really pulled my thoughts together in a nice shareable way but: On a positive note, I believe crypto has won. Its stablecoins (ie Stripe) and speculation (ie Polymarket). Game over. On a negative note, the cult we built around crypto is beyond dumb, toxic and holding the whole space back. But my biggest shift is that there is no "crypto" there is only Internet and crypto primitives are just part of the toolkit for the greater internet. My love for cryptocurrencies and its protocol has not changed only my perspective in how it fits in the wider internet. I no longer work in crypto. I work in tech.

I'm also trying to break through this barrier. We have created self-inflicted silos of importance in this space. When we ultimately should be working with everyone to solve the problems and find solutions to the worlds pains whether its with crypto rails or not. Yes I strongly believe we have many wonderful and uplifting answers. However, we def do not have them all. Another component that makes us less effective is we try to financialize everything. This leads to incentives that are driven by greed instead of meaning/purpose. What AI tools have you found to be your main gotos?

I sometimes wonder if the stigma against crypto is more the speculative nature or the toxic culture that’s built up around it. Coming from primarily AI I still find it stupid when I hear about companies building agentic payments without crypto rails

I still think token incentives will still come to play in bootstrapping systems. But the "oh you had a punk in 2021 and therefore know things" scene is such BS. Like the people the crypto scene puts on a pedestal are largely full of shit.

I very much align with this and love the perspective. I happen to build in crypto with and without AI, but I was dev’ing outside of it before and will be in the future. I agree that crypto has won and I see thee developments as opportunity to finally seamlessly blend both worlds, using abstractions like @privy or @coinbasedev SDKs, so that people use crypto without the complexity that blocked so many. That’s where I see the future developements of @tipdotmd going, continue on the frictionless path of creator support using crypto.

Was talking with a friend about a concept I noticed recent MFT (Media, Finance and Tech) Farcaster is a perfect example, Coinbase wallet which already had F&T figured out, are now adding Media on top. My friend asked why didn't I replay the Tech for Blockchain or Crypto. You post reinforces my reason why

This kind of perspective shift is really refreshing. "Crypto" as a term has taken on so much baggage... It's easy to disassociate it from tech. Seeing it as part of the broader internet toolkit just makes way more sense.

The shame around the cult is real! I always say: I work in tech I work in fintech I work in crypto 🙈 Feeling better these days, especially watching stables rise after all the brain damage on forums.

This is very similar to something I heard @dabit3 say recently. Basically saying we should stop framing crypto as a separate track from all other developer technologies. It should just be one out of 100 things devs use to build something.

This has kinda been my take from tge start. Being that I joined as a non believer in it at all. Literally opened a wallet to trade an nft so at least I wouldn’t just be larping. I stayed because I too think crypto wins. Lovely thoughts all around and way to put it in such a concise synopsis. Crypto is ded. Long live crypto.
