YouTube now dominates the living room Weird because I still associate YT with mobile form factors, but they've been pressing hard on TV because that's where they can continue to grow -- and it's now become their primary viewing device Wonder how this impacts their product focus

I bet you large percent is from kids wanting to watch YouTube videos on the TV. I know mine do 😅 Unicorn Slime, Hamster Escape, Finger Family, Miss Rachel etc... Boy/Girl Twins that are 2 1/2 years old 🥰

I think they nailed the distribution of their app — pretty native to all android devices (and iPhone) which made it easily available through third party devices like Roku, or native software on “Smart” TVs. It’s easy to get TV out there with just a software patch!

i can’t see this reflected in the quality of their tvOS app at all, so probably just a blip on the radar

I’ve been watching YT through Roku or my Smart TV for over a decade and via my PlayStation before that. Makes sense especially since my kids watch YT more than nearly anything else.

I think the play here is to dominate Connected TV market and capture Retail Media ad spend, which is where they are facing stiff competition for overall Digital Ad Spend dollars. I think they will press hard because there is a lot at stake here.
