nobody remembers how Facebook or Twitter actually started
Facebook was Facemash: built with stolen data, designed to let you judge people on their looks. exploited your inner asshole, made it exclusive, created FOMO
Twitter was twttr: an SMS service for status updates to a small group. same trick. made you feel like ...

the tiktoktification of reading. what’s the point of reading in the first place? how can you even form an opinion by skimming the book?
maybe just switch to judging by its cover and save yourself time and money?

yo dawg, we hear you like acronyms, so we put an API inside your TUI, and wrapped that in a GUI, so you could interface while you interface while you interface!

no fam, you did not cook
you’re a mid-level manager delegating work to a glorified autocomplete. when it goes bonkers or picks a dogshit architecture, you won’t even know
"but it works!" yeah, once. wait until you need to change something

you deserve a proper laugh today
Hey girls!...Well you see I got in this group that had 10s of millions of dollars built around some funny square glasses. And of course, I wanted a flamingo wearing the glasses, but I couldn't afford it. Then I won the flamingo but now that group is AWOL and the flamingo isn't really worth anything. My teaching job? Oh

this is clever but you probably don’t need 50 lines of suspense hijacking to fix exit animations
useRef + onAnimationEnd does the same thing in 10 lines, works with shadcn/radix/baseui out of the box, and won’t break when react changes suspense internals

this is what happens when a free market takes a cartel (Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron) to the cleaners
monopolies don’t last long in a free market world. good riddance

skill issue. every. damn. time.
"SwiftUI is buggy" is cope. OpenAI chose Electron because:
- they need Windows/Linux (you know, 90% of desktops?)
- they have web devs, not Swift devs
- they can share code with their web app
SwiftUI IS harder than React (strongly-typed, more complex language features, newer ecosystem)...

The new Codex app is built with Electron.
This is probably because SwiftUI is so buggy that even big labs can't trust Apple now.
I'm one of those indie devs who still want to build native apps. But from a business owner's perspective, it's less & less appealing now. https://t.co/uU0JphdOab

tfw a ton of people decided to outfit their homes with fancy heat pumps instead of good old gas or pellet burners
now we’re all dealing with brownouts because everyone suddenly needs electricity when it’s –15°C (5°F) or colder; heat pumps just can’t handle those freezing temps
