This is one big reason why im using Farcaster less and less.. I’ve also been enjoying life off chain for a bit, i will forever be grateful for this place and i will never leave it But the amount of “cult among the OGs” is ridiculous.. I was able to grow a lot on this platform and be influencial, even more than the OGs.. if we look at the numbers i was getting 10 times more interactions then people with 200k followers😂 And i think they didnt like that newcomers like me were able to steal their spotlight, simply with charisma, funny memes and art.. So they’ve built this system that @mvr is taking about, which it’s so obvious even blind people can see. And dont even get me started on how they never truly accepted that $DEGEN is what made Farcaster what it is today.. Never cooperated with @jacek , never admited that $DEGEN is the actual native token of Farcaster.. They did work with Moxie tho, funny eh?

You know what is ironic to me? We seem to be on a sufficiently decentralized social media, with a sufficiently centralized rewards system. Don’t loose your mind too much bro, I know it’s unfair, and you’re all 1000% right. But you can’t do shit about it, people has been screaming since the creation of this shit, did anything really changed? Nope, because it needs to be this way (apparently)

Cheers for sharing this, wouldn't have seen it otherwise. I've been complaining about visibility for a while. High follower count OG accounts have way too much influence over cast visibility, which also now ties into the rewards system, which in consequence is making people feel ever more disenchanted as it takes views away from objectively decent content. There are new accounts in the list but they are being inorganically pushed there by algorithm tweaks and the content is 90% engagement farming because as soon as you monetize it, it becomes more about getting it seen that what it is you are showing. Monetize everything and nothing has value. Now they've got issues with bot farming, genuine users feeling even more left out because you can actually make money with this, and a timeline that's beginning to resemble instagram or tik-tok brain rot. @mvr replied here, but this is really a comment for that original thread too.

I have commented this before. You are either part of the clique or not. If you are, you get the super thumbs up and also trend. I brought this up when one of our video game music cats had over 300 likes, 5000 views but never trended. But a person jet washing their chair for far less views was trending. Also give a brother some love and check out my new weekly comic I did. Would mean a lot 😌

It’s unfortunate!!😓 It feels pretty impossible to break through or break in so I just keep on casting my stuff and I have a small amount of people I interact with and I win in like $3 a week…🤷‍♂️

I have experienced exactly this as well. One time, one of the top OGs responded to ONE of my casts. And just because of that, I was ranked so much higher... I even got into the $10 reward group 👀 Casting every day (more or less 😅) interesting stuff brings me like 1000 points. One single response from an OG brings me instantly 2000 points... That's a little strange indeed 👀
