I don't believe in a personal God or a creator God. Nor do I believe in a just totalizing essentialist heirarchy. I believe the universe is inherently malign: that it's structured in a way that forces conscious beings into conflict with each other. In that sense I believe in the gnostic demiurge.

If you look at all the religions and gods throughout history it’s pretty clear it’s all made up. Most humans can’t accept that there’s no reason for existence - so at some point early on, they made one up to sleep better at night. Are there forces out there that our tiny brains can’t fathom? Maybe.

That's a hard question. Physics helps us understand almost everything that we're aware exists, which rules out all religious beliefs. If this universe is deterministic, does God represent the being(s) that created this simulation? We need more physicists and we need to keep searching for answers.
