I genuinely believe most people are capable of so much more than they think, so much more. you really can do most things, but agency is limited so you have to pick and choose

that being said — I also feel that it does require a sort of let’s call it “Mandate of Heaven”, external forces acting on you that are outside of your control guiding you

Some of my favorite eras from Chinese History:

1) Spring and Autumn eras (春秋時代 770~470s BCE) Late Zhou (周 ) and the Confucian foundation 孔子, 太公望 and his story which also eventually became the investiture of the gods — also an era of hundreds of states and counties 

2) Warring States Era (戰國時代  ~450~220s BCE) because of Seven Warring States”: 秦、楚、燕、韓、趙、魏、齊 classics — because spring and autumn was about the fraying of values, and warring state era was about violent consolidation of the other 6 states under Qin 秦 - the first time a unified China 中國ever existed and would for a while 

3) Then eventually of course three kingdom era 三國時代 time of fracture again and story of Wei, Shu, and Wu (魏、 蜀、吳) another wonderfully rich era of human drama

Yes!! And I love to see when people pivot to try something new, whether professionally or in their personal lives. It’s fun to cheer them on and note that we can do the same.

I agree, all the stars have to align.  And they definitely align when people take their first steps towards their dreams.

My head is like you have 24hrs, you can literally try anything new.

Mother, beliver. artist, paints over AI. Impulsive, socially awkward, addictive personality, lover of art,music & LSD. I’v seen things,   you wouldn't believe.

That pick and choose is a big thing.  the moment you tell life where you’re willing to go, Instead of just drifting.
It can feel heavy, but it’s what makes you feel alive and real.

Why call those external forces mandate of heaven and not luck. Just curious on you personal perspective here and wondering if you are leaning towards some kind od divine rather than purely scientific intervention on our journeys.

You really can master anything with 10,000 hours of effort. Most people stop at 10 hours because of a little voice whispering "Why bother? You can't"

But yeah, 10,000 hours doesn't guarantee greatness. That takes something else
