Previewing an upcoming change to DCs We're moving DC convos to a max 1 year history before expiring old messages. Indefinite storage for DC convos makes scaling and decentralization harder.

is there a way to bulk export old DCs? I have many messages about to hit 1-year old later this year

Ok, does that mean that if I conversation has new and 1+ year old parts that the old parts get cut but the new parts remain or is the whole conversation going to be removed?

Makes sense, year retention seems like plenty. Feature request for DC’s…. If I mute and archive a chat, if I’m tagged in that chat, it pops back out of archive.

What technology was looked at as a solution for this. From a non-dev perspective and only knowing the "brochure facts" of scaling with zk-proofs, I'm surprised something like a zkEVM (@zksync) or even non-EVM zk tech (@starknet) couldn't be useful here. Were any onchain solutions looked at for storing old DCs in a scalable and decentralized way? Disclaimer: Way out of my depth here, just curious.

Do you guys have a mental model that differentiates direct casts from other group private messaging? Just curious how that informs time bounds like this. If anything, for me, a year seems for longer than I’d expect for my general use cases, which would be using FC as a launchpad to take serious conversations elsewhere.
