The L1 is great. Oh shit, the L1 doesn't scale. Sidechains will help us scale. Nah fuck these, Rollups are the way to go. L2's are ethereum, we love L2's they've been great. Actually we like ZK Rollups. Wait, they didn't really take off. Ok, back to rollups, Base is Ethereum. Wait, L1 is now dead, fuck L2's. We need based and native rollups. These aren't ready yet. L1 is only Ethereum, fuck everything else. Make up your mind ETH maxis.

Bob has a Coinbase account + a wallet (Wallet A) he on / off boards from. He performs Coinbase onchain verification with that wallet. Coinbase don't have anymore or less data than they did before. Bob uses wallet A to deposit into /veil -- he later withdraws to wallet B. Coinbase, /veil or anyone on the blockchain does not know that wallet is connected to Bob. Privacy, onchain.

Stablecoins kinda remind me of how Revolut disrupted banking in Ireland. Banks was awful in Ireland, and mostly still is. Terrible online banking apps, cross bank payments up until a few months ago took a day to clear, even same bank transfers could take a few hours. International payments were a horrible experience, massive fees and 5+ days to clear. Along came Revolut, free peer to peer transfers, great online banking UX, free replacement cards, extras you actually wanted, access to instant international transfer at low costs, crypto intergration etc. At one points, I could get a bank to bank transfer to settle quicker by depositing into Revolut first and then withdrawing out to the destination bank. In less than year every single person I knew at least had a Revolut account, with a few making it their main bank account they got paid into. Stablecoins is this, but 100x.

Veil Wallet pool example --------------------------- testinprd.base.eth has a balance in the veil wallet pool. They need to pay deploy.base.eth 0.01 ETH. deploy.base.eth then chooses to withdraw 0.005 out of the pool into his own wallet. Private transfers ------------------ 0.01ETH from user A to B The recipient, amount and even the sender is private. On the blockchain all you see is that there was an update to the pool contract by the Veil relayer. The inputs + outputs are encrypted before being pushed into the smart contract. Arbitrary Amount Withdrawal ------------------------------- User B withdraws some of the funds deploy.base.eth wants to take out half the funds, they submit a withdrawal request. Remaining balance in the pool is private.
