expose interesting content to new users!!! people i invite get stuck in traps of nothing interesting in feed -> try some featured mini apps -> suddenly it’s just a notification spam app — i would love FTUE to be 3 or 4 casts you thumbs up or down and then it pops you into a curated feed

Onboarding flow is so difficult to complete. That has been the limiting factor for a few normies i invited here. FWIW - I haven’t been through it recently so not sure if it improved

atm, people who i follow and used see in my home feed a lot (before following feed was introduced) never show up in my following feed(my default now) and the other way around is true too. my interactions with those who i used to interact with a lot on my home feed have dropped significantly because of the separation unless i make it a point to switch the feed. wish they (ppl i follow and are only visible on home feed) would just show up in following so i don’t have to do mental gymnastics to make sure i see their content <<< something i wish fc could do better

Mini apps organized by category/type. If i see a mini app in my feed, dont add it, and it’s not on the trending list- it’s very difficult to re-discover. If I can go to overall trending but also trending/“most added” by category, re-discovery would pose less friction and potentially draw more attention to up and coming mini’s.

I don’t understand how channels are gated. And if they are, I often don’t understand who owns the channel/how to get access to posting there. Is there a standard for open/closed channels? PS do you know who started/controls the /fantasy-top channel?

Coincidentally, I just posted a response to @ted on my 10pm walk through Chelsea—summarizing what i think farcaster can do better. Optimizing the creation, sharing and discovery of front-facing video content. Rewards, air drops, open data and zk infra are great new infrastructure, but not enough to solve discovery and engagement in the age of rampant BOTification and AI image, video, and text generation. We need a authentically civic and peripatetic approach to validating real human presence. Video replies. Face-forward discourse. That’s how you build a decentralized digital park that people are excited to hang out in and invite their friends to.
