Does saying 'writing' counts as a tool? I think this was the moat important human invention. It allowed us to store state and transcend data through time. And this is what separated us from any other species

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surface_plate Joseph Whitworth invented the flat plate, and became the first person to manufacture with a precision up to a millionth of an inch. He’s why you can by generic screws that fit. The age of precision manufacturing is important for cars, planes and even semiconductors :)
