I am browsing through my folders this morning, partly to self-soothe, partly just to keep my mind busy - to not feel what I am feeling right now. I find myself in a space where I don’t know how to be useful. Photography is my language, my gift in making people feel seen and heard. But today, I feel useless. I have no tools. Lately, I have been spending a lot of time just sitting in silence and meditating. Waiting for something to reveal itself - a shift, an answer, anything really. My thoughts based on a previous chat we had about what's happening and feeling useless. You have always captured the beauty of humanity, telling your subjects stories, especially those of the often unseen. Why not apply those super powers to telling immigrant/migrant stories. You live in Florida which is loaded with many immigrant stories. America’s superpower has always been the combination of immigration and entrepreneurial drive. The list of immigrants and their descendants who founded iconic American companies is long—and still being written. Our new comers will someday be on the list of entrepreneurs, service members (1st responder and military), artists, nurses and doctors. Now is the time to tell immigrant stories so we can all reconnect with our personal stories and help others create theirs.
