random rant, but i *hate* visiting museums in cities that aren't dc, which includes in /paris, because of having grown up in the dc metro area where the major smithsonian museums are free (us tax dollars at work!)

But the British Museum is unbeaten and probably unbeatable. And totally free

Honestly if you've never been it's worth going to London just for that. There's a section just about the history of Money, and last time I went they even had a physical Bitcoin in it

also keen to see what trump tries to do with smithsonian, would be a travesty to no longer be free but i do agree that the total budgets have gotten out of control over their actual mandates

yup - same growing up in the UK. I just assumed that's the world - it's our cultural inheritence. so many phenominal museums, and you can pop in the 5 mins.

Berlin is mostly free iirc
