random rant, but i *hate* visiting museums in cities that aren't dc, which includes in /paris, because of having grown up in the dc metro area where the major smithsonian museums are free (us tax dollars at work!) absolutely blew my mind to learn most museums everywhere else have entrance fees 🤯

yup - same growing up in the UK. I just assumed that's the world - it's our cultural inheritence. so many phenominal museums, and you can pop in the 5 mins.
