It feels like Farcaster is starting to lean left in ways I personally don't really love.

If a little tension and slight lean is alienating to you, imagine how people feel who stay away from twitter for the same reason. For what it's worth I highly doubt that leftist views will ever be dominant here due specifically to Dan and other prominent voices being highly conservative leaning. So you're still pretty safe here...

Some of it is low quality election-related posting. Another part is this “crypto is actually leftist” vibe (libertarian socialism, anarchism, DAOs as governance, etc.).

I have 0 problem with people who believe in those things organizing on here. But if that becomes the dominant ethos of Farcaster, it will alienate me and, I suspect, many others.

Funny, I think Farcaster often leans right in ways I don't really love, but I would rather not live in a bubble and it makes for fun disagreement!

Not that much really but it has a lot of leftism, but vitalik being leftist has hurt ETH a lot, a lot of people i know does not want to get close to ETH because is the democrat coin...

I agree but I've been seeing it for a few months. I almost unfollowed a few people but just ended up muting them.

The spectrum of leftists on Farcaster (mostly libsocs) is pretty narrow and probably has more in common with most crypto-libertarians than far-left communists. Even our commies are pretty chill folks.

Would be cool if more people just talked to us instead of reacting to our politics.

I think why you may feel that way is the overwhelming extremely far right takes that are currently dominating crypto twitter right now. Most far left leaning went to bluesky and left twitter so there’s little balance.  

FC isn’t left leaning. It’s a normal cross section. It probably just feels that way in comparison to CT right now.

How much of this is because you’ve spent so much time on Twitter? Farcaster seems a lot more neutral and Twitter keeps on moving further and further right and is infested with far right bots 🤷‍♂️

Stop reducing everything to American left and right, when the world is way more complex. Your two-party system is constantly a source of problems, why narrow the world view into these categories?

I think what you are seeing is less of an echo chamber than X. People who believe differently than you actually have voices here.

Also i have never seen a part of the community work so hard AGAINST their bags, as the ETH leftist community haha

Interesting,  I had the take that it was a bit more right. I'm sure it ebbs and flows really.

It seems incredibly well balanced with a majority of people I see on here having no public affiliation to either side
