Peak Syntax episode. Wes and Scott really embody a “hacker spirit” at a level I aspire to and it shows when they talk about their self-host setups and the dozens of “personal software” hacks they’re constantly working on.

“You realize that stamina is a core bottleneck to work and that with LLMs in hand it has been dramatically increased.”
“Change your approach from imperative to declarative to get the agents looping longer and gain leverage.”
“LLM coding will split up engineers based on those who primarily liked coding and those who p...

A few random notes from claude coding quite a bit last few weeks.
Coding workflow. Given the latest lift in LLM coding capability, like many others I rapidly went from about 80% manual+autocomplete coding and 20% agents in November to 80% agent coding and 20% edits+touchups in

Finally got around to booting up my new Mac Mini.
First thing I did was figure out how to install Nix, nix-darwin and pkgs.code-cursor from nixpkgs.
Now I have my Nix Flake file opened up in Cursor and I’m asking Claude how to set up all the apps and build tools and IDEs I need so I never have to manually download an

Good interview with Geoffrey Huntley who pioneered the “Ralph Wiggum” method for software engineering (repeatedly invoking an LLM with deterministic, minimally-allocated context).
“Software development as a profession is dead but software engineering is very much alive.”

I had pretty much the exact same experience.
Agents have clearly just passed an inflection point. If you’re a builder and haven’t yet re-calibrated around this new reality, the next best time is now.
Something definitely changed with Opus 4.5. It went from me frequently telling it "you're doing X wrong, don't do that", and it would happily reply with "you're absolutely right!" and proceed to do X wrong again, to now, where I've had moments where I too quickly reacted to tell it that it was wrong as a force of habit

“Farcaster is the most successful subreddit of all time.”
“If you think of Farcaster as the best community of people building and experimenting onchain while sharing ideas of what the future looks like, you’re gonna have a great time.”
I have a great time. 🛠️
In my opinion, a lot of folks need to change their mental model around Farcaster.
Farcaster is the most successful subreddit of all time.
Builder-oriented, early adopters and early capital as value props, etc.
If you think of Farcaster as the next YouTube or X or Instagram, you’re going to be wildly disappointed and

“Sending all your data to third party centralized services is unnecessary. We have the tools to do much less of that. We should continue to build and improve, and much more actively use them.”
2026 is the year we take back lost ground in computing self-sovereignty.
But this applies far beyond the blockchain world.
In 2025, I made two major changes to the software I use:
* Switched almost fully to https://fileverse.io/ (open source encrypted decentralized docs)
* Switched decisively to Signal as primary me
