I don't wanna waste too much energy over people experimenting, but agree it feels like the wrong direction.

Even less interested (if that's possible) now that all token pairs are forfun/forfun. Even if we set aside the previously low liq coin pools, at least creators could still sell their ETH fees into healthy liquidity. Now they all get to fight over 47k zora liq?

Any creator wanting to cash out on cointent fees is now fully dependent on the success of the platform. Either it all succeeds or the whole experiment zero.

I think 2 you could have on here - there’s been a lot of pushback to zora stuff on here that ppl would engage with. I would imagine that both yours and his follower/distribution difference plays a bit of a role in the diff in engagement on the same post on both platforms

re 1 yea you are prob right i think the community here as it stands currently is more app layer focused and not as much deeper EVM/tech discussion

content coins monetize content by attaching an attention market to it and sending a portion of the initial supply and transaction fees from trading to the creator

these markets are purely speculative  and are characteristic bubbles with a steep curve followed by a crash and asymptote to 0

these markets are dominated by sophisticated players: automated traders that try to “snipe” a large supply for very little in the first moments of the market, or active traders using tools and / or insider knowledge

the general flow of value is from retail (either collectors or gamblers) to these sophisticated players with the creator getting some relatively small portion

if you measure efficiency as the proportion of net changes in value going to the creator these markets are a not an efficient way to pay creators though it's possible the creator makes more money from speculators looking to profit in the market that otherwise wouldn't have supported the creator directly

re 1 there is less off but certainly know of active users here who would find it interesting (ie @horsefacts.eth). it's a chicken and egg problem that all small networks face but my guess is a relatively small handful of accounts posting consistently would be enough to grow the niche significantly

re 2 should play fine, I saw plenty thoughtful discussion on the zora probably more of a visibility thing than anything. I know there are also ppl who would push back on push back with "support creators" or "just experiment" but that seems fine

the problem is that conversations like this on here get no engagement because they nuked visibility of replies

on twitter you guys have those convos and your followers see them because they have a feed that surfaces the replies (following feed w/ reply bumping)

farcaster by design doesn't support deep conversations because your followers have no feed that shows them your comments deeper than a direct response to a top level cast 

if you do get into a deep back and forth, it's you and that single person talking in private which is a weird vibe (and keeps others from joining in and bolstering the convo's visibility)
