Yesterday, I proposed splitting the "External cast data" FIP into two items. 1. Longer Casts, for medium size posts (1k char casts) 2. External cast data, for true long form content (10k+ char posts) The Longer Casts FIP is ready for review. It's a simple change and we plan to move quickly if there is consensus.

++ to supporting longer casts natively! Curious why the FIP landed on 1024 chars specifically (which seems to not be a large increase from the default) versus 2048 or 4096?

I've been waiting for this change! Sometimes the number of characters is not enough even in English, and even more so when using Japanese, so this is very helpful.

I think your suggestion is very good. I agree. However, I do have one concern I am concerned that the application may become slower or unusable suddenly by allowing longer postings?

Hope it gets approved! This, in my opinion, will basically elevate the quality of some casts. And those that use the large casts to only expand on usefulness with suffer the consequences of natural selection by having even less people interested in interacting with them.
