I still don't think creator coins in their current iteration make sense for all the stated reasons, but this might be the strongest counter-signal yet.

We're pausing the developer rewards program. There is an increasing amount of spam activity, making it harder to reward developers working on valuable apps.
We'll bring this back once we have a better model for rewards that is harder to game.
