OK, finally bit the bullet and started migrating my personal notes over from OneNote -> Obsidian. Best tips and tricks for someone new to Obsidian?

Well, obviously you're going to want to enable vim mode ;) Keeping your vaults inside iCloud makes for a good multi-device syncing experience. Beyond that, I haven't really changed the stock settings or found any plugins particularly helpful.

Keep it simple, don't install many plugins to start. Learn how to use the [[Link]] notation to reference people, places, names of things. You can create a [[Link]] even if you don't create a note for it yet — it will become useful in the future.

I'd also take a look at other open source platforms like @fileverse and HackMD. Fileverse is also building fully onchain. 💛

I honestly would say, don’t go nuts with customizing it crazy with plug ins and all this set up. Just start taking notes with it and go from there. Spending hours on perfect set up only to not take notes in the end defeats the purpose

Obsidian was my first purple app... there's just something about the color purple. 💜 For me what works is: simple structure, not trying to make it the everything app (e.g. Trello for task mgmt). I also like a clean tagging taxonomy. Oh, and the Readwise sync. I want to build a "Save to Readwise" Action for casts
