How much would you pay for Google Maps, if there were no alternatives? I’d prob do $1,000+ / month. And yet I get it for free and am hardly ever grateful for it. Lesson in there?

What about google maps is significantly better for you than other navigational apps like Apple maps, Waze, etc.? Is it maybe bc you can save and bookmark locations? I use multiple different navigational apps for different modes of transportation / purposes so wouldn’t be willing to pay $1000+ for google maps myself

There would certainly be cheaper, less fully featured alternatives that would attract the vast majority of users But if the premium/paid features were good enough at the right price then it could work $1000/month is insanity. Maybe $20-$100

A slightly different take—not really about the main point, but more like a lesson—is that people these days should still learn how to read physical maps, just in case Google Maps doesn’t work. I usually use it when I travel abroad, but even with roaming, there are a lot of places where the data connection isn't reliable. In those moments, I’ve had to open up a real map and find my way manually. 😅
