harsh reality monday what's a "tough truth" for you that, when you accept it, will lead to a wider set of opportunities, a clearer path forward, better decision-making, and more meaningful actions? mine is i probably have, at best, <250 true fans here despite my audience

Failure is not only good, but necessary for what I want to do And as someone who is historically avoidant of it, I actually need to accelerate my experiences with failure

ooh I like this truthfulness... 250 true fans sounds pretty good. at what point is your audience too large to engage with and connect with anyway. I'll think on the tough truth for myself...

One I've come to grips with: To build + get deep work done in this industry, you have to consciously choose to ignore vast swathes of what's happening in the space. Too many ecosystems, chains, apps, and trends with numbers going up and to the right in bull markets that serve as tantalizing distractions.

A truth that comes to mind for me is: completing a bad first draft is an essential and un-skippable first step for creating something :)

No one cares enough or thinks about me enough for me to have fear and social anxiety meeting new people IRL. Still holds me back a lot and trying to lean head first into it. But all the best things in life are shared with others, and I've met for a first time everyone I've shared one with at some point

My tough truth, learnt the hard way, is that what’s got me to here won’t get me to there, and I always have to be humble and willing to change.

Trying to be perfect and getting upset when I fall short, no matter how minor the mistake. Happened this morning when rehearsing my startup pitch I struggled to answer a few questions clearly. It's not novel advice, I need to remind myself to brush off mistakes. This post was spell-checked for mistakes 🤪

My tough truth is that I had a negativity bias hard coded in me from an early age. I grew up hearing a lot of “Ns” versus “Ys” without understanding the why behind why not. This led me to discover CBT. After about 3.5 years of work, I’ve turned many frowns upside down.

Planning and strategizing feels productive but is only useful to a certain extent. If I find myself over planning now, I've realized it means I'm probably trying to convince myself of something that my gut is against / leaning away from.

Mine is similar. People don’t care about me as much as I think they do, so need to just be myself and not worry about perception. I remind myself this a lot and still hard to implement in practice consistently.

I need to say no. Then finish the thing. Everything I finish gives much more impact than doing the many things gives fun.

I am not a good public speaker. It’s really hard for me to to talk eloquently about something unless i know it in my bones. Feels like a massive blocker to being able to communicate on many levels

KISS - keep it simple (stupid). Nobody is gonna take any action if you show them your fancy violin plot. Do a simple bar chart and everyone is happy (well not everyone. A tiny part of a my soul dies)
