a thing I like about bootstrap builders is I always feel like I'm talking to a person with some vc-backed founders I feel like I'm talking to a carefully crafted narrative often the 4th wall breaks when you tell them something and they say "oh that really resonates, I should start pitching this more like..." - like dude I'm trying to have a conversation with *you*, is there anyone actually there?

this doesn't actually apply to the best vc-backed founders because they understand how to keep somewhat of a distance from the narrative. they operate better because they can make clear-headed decisions rather than being lost in the sauce.

seen this too many times. they cant help it at that point - they've made promises to investors that serve as their mandate for all interactions.

Yeah I hear you. So much emphasis on pitching and "focus" that to go through that gauntlet it may be that it's the "always selling" personality type they are selecting for more so than the process that changes people. What do you think?
