Something that seems to be entirely missing from farcaster is the understanding that normal people still hate crypto 

Coinbase is not cool to anyone outside of crypto, they absolutely hate crypto. The number of head nods I get on calls when I describe crypto as something “everyone hates” is hilarious

we may not like but incentives control everything 

we both know talented people who could be doing something “better” but if they can make stacks by staying within crypto they will continue to. 

many of them know that’s not good, but they can’t leave either. 

all we can do is control our actions and build positively. 

as much as we want to yap and change the world with it, only apps will change perspective. 

but it can happen, it used to be weird to share personal information online and now it’s standard. 

in 20 years crypto will have better penetration, if we’re good we can accelerate it a bit.

That crypto would stop trying to lead with crypto, put the sausage making back behind the facade, and deliver a solution that actually benefits society Instead of just perpetuating the grift game by adding bells and whistles. Strip it all down and most of it looks a lot like glorified naval gazing, unless the world truly is missing a miniapp that lets you tip someone who bought $fart at the right time but not so right that they got $dick instead and above all else they didn’t go offline during that time.

Moxie is the enemy now? I haven’t been here, I left while everyone here LOVED moxie. This is part of the problem, paper mache projects that people put their whole being into in the hopes they can make magic internet money (aka their internet friends’ money they stole while laughing) 

No consistency, no investment in the future, only selfish behavior revolving around grifting money done under the guise of “fun” or “community” or whatever the latest bullshit mind virus is running around this week.

Not to mention we have stories like moxie on farcaster that kinda discouraged people from trusting some big shots on fc too...
Stories like that are more powerful and affecting than any other good shit around crypto

I mean. Time will tell. But the fact most crypto people think he’s lost the plot. To me says he does. 

I could read the whole thing wrong though. And it could be a rudderless ship. I think merkle is doing good work. Can fail for sure. But I like it. For now.

“Hating the vibe” is probably cause for our Neanderthal branch merge expiration.

absolutely agree but also not much one can do about this, as on one hand people gon’ hate and the other crypto keeps giving them reasons to hate 

what sealed it for me is when I saw a room of 200+ engineers at MIT laugh at the mention of ethereum

Normal people haven't had the chance to experience the value, so all they know are the bad takes they're fed from the media.

It will change soon with the passing of the GENIUS Act and merchants who are keen to use stablecoins. Once people can buy real stuff, the arguments that it's not real money and only for crime will die.
