muscle ups always remind me of how we used to mount onto the lower bar of the uneven bars in gymnastics wonder if watching videos of that would help with form/inertia?

You've got it no problem, imo if you start with the bar more in the bottom part of your hands, not in your fingers. good ol' unsolicited advice

One thing that really helped me back in the day was in my routine I'd add 3 reps of) a 40 second hold of the bar where my arms were in an L shape - kind of like a deadhang, but arms in an L and my eyes were level with the bar. It was kind of torture, but after a while it made the muscle ups pretty doable... but I'm not actually sure why.
