I want to keep this convo going and get more voices involved @kenny makes a meaningful point about humans aspiring upward! That said, as a builder, the UX is undeniably worse for people that will pay me more money. Left unchecked this kills the product AND their opportunity How do you ethically discriminate here??

Kenny’s point is well-taken & he’s right. The solution isn’t chaos, though. Don’t we have what we need? • Channels for topics • Ability to mute words & channels from one’s main feed (maybe not this yet) • Freedom for channel mods to hide casts that violate channel norms (any kind of off-topic spam)

Having compassion, seeking to understand people and thinking about the outcomes that reach beyond profit probably go a long way. I have mad respect for people and businesses willing to take some financial hits for the sake of being better all around.

I don’t recall it being as much of an issue in the earlier years of crypto – ppl were still trying to make money, & maxis would shill their bags in subreddits or Twitter to some degree. But with the tokenization and airdrop mania, spammy behaviors are incentivized. The greed was always there, the medium has changed

As an aside, you remind me of the Tyler Cowen interview where Patrick McKenzie talks about how bank parking lots are optimized for new account customers, not “normal” patrons.

I wonder how translation may invite more active participation across cultures beyond airdrop farming, know it’s not in the WC near future (maybe a frame ?) Cross cultural engagement may be one of the better outcomes of the Axie Infinity story to date. /food has been a natural nexus of culture from diff corners.

while i've been observing UX has been consistently getting better, sufficient decentralization is def something to dig into. + in developing/poor countries crypto is put together with gambling in general context over the prospects of decentralization. that narrative needs to change.

Just make it about what each person wants to see by default and offer choices.
