something very dystopian about crypto social ppl from rich counties looking down on airdrop farmers and "spam"

these ppl live an existence where the cost of your monthly ETH gas could be life changing

they're scrapping and clawing to make a better life but God forbid that makes your doomscrolling less efficient

I want to keep this convo going and get more voices involved

That said, as a builder, the UX is undeniably worse for people that will pay me more money. 

Left unchecked this kills the product AND their opportunity

I don’t recall it being as much of an issue in the earlier years of crypto – ppl were still trying to make money, & maxis would shill their bags in subreddits or Twitter to some degree. But with the tokenization and airdrop mania, spammy behaviors are incentivized. The greed was always there, the medium has changed

Look at this cast from yesterday – I don’t recall seeing anyone get 8K recasts on FC for anything that didn’t imply an airdrop and smell of MLM (where the recast is a prerequisite).

Not bashing (lol) those desperate for gains, but it’s a nuclear combination when crypto social enables and rewards this behavior

Definitely - that’s why this conversation is so important.

We don’t really like to talk about just how much MORE powerful the money chasing urge is at spurring action (esp if it’s a low cost action) but if we don’t we won’t be able to effectively classify pro- vs anti-social mechanisms
