confession: it makes me a little sad to open Farcaster these days. the algo’s broken, there’s no real way for creators to grow or earn sustainably. everything that pushed me away last time is still here and now they’re stripping away the good parts too. the people, the cozy builder corners, real feedback, a decent signal-to-noise ratio , it’s all fading. if my posts don’t even reach my friends without amps, and my feed’s full of strangers, what’s the point? social apps become sticky when your effort compounds your reach, following, and impact grow over time. that’s just not happening here.

I feel this but have accepted that the algo feed is a terrible connecting ground for seeing casts from the people I want to see casts from Im a tiny less cynical about it, but find periods stepping back from it to be healing for me Friends will still be there when I come back

the point is probably to make new friends out of the feed strangers; otherwise private group chats are a better way to strengthen the network. a balance between expansion and strength; seeding and harvesting. of course, this breaks down if everyone is on their harvest season and nobody’s tending to the dry fields.

I have faded, the algo forgets and it’s a struggle trying to get your audience back, post notifications don’t even work anymore but I love that you’re casting a lot more these days

agree 100% but some of us are trying to keep and nurture the cozy corners of fc social protocol thriving. working on a network tool on this in the long term future, we can eject from this app and just hook into the good parts of the protocol for a cozy social app (private client for 10,000 power users who like constructive conversations more than broadcasting algorithmically to a massive audience and tokenizing everything)

Curate your follows 🤷 Farcaster is definitely still the happy place on my phone I go to when I need an escape from the insane catastrophic collapse happening in the world right now. If you start following noise, your feed's going to get noisy.
