We’re finally getting into full ramp up production on greens. The arugula is going bonkers. Swiss Chard continues to come in and get closer to when we can take a first harvest. The carrots are doing decently and I just planted a second row. No leeks ever sprouted but the seeds were very old so…
On the vertical wall my selection of Bok Choi may have been a mistake. I think I need a smaller variety to keep it from shading other plants. We’ve harvested and enjoyed buttercrunch but the two romaine varieties are plugging along a little more slowly. I still need to create a shade / wind structure to protect this. It’s getting blasted with full sun which won’t work well for year round production.
My germination rate hasn’t been great so I’m going to start increasing the # of plants started for the vertical system so that I can hit the target of 7-8 good transplants per week.
Strawberries are my next big endeavor and but getting the on demand wicking in 36 separate containers is proving a lot more difficult than I expected.
