We are so excited to announce round 1 of the Clanker Ecosystem Fund grants! 🧵 Thank you to @dish for first coming to us with this idea and to @rish and team for entrusting us as stewards. We've created 4 categories of grant awards: BUILDER GRANTS: For projects that have demonstrated sustained contribution, execution, and ecosystem impact. These are often larger grants because they reward proven work rather than speculative ideas. SUSTAINABILITY GRANTS: For smaller community projects, tools, media, or cultural contributions that make the ecosystem better. Some projects simply need enough support to continue existing. These grants may fund: infrastructure costs (APIs, hosting, etc), design costs, content or media creation costs, tooling maintenance FRESH CLANK GRANTS: Smaller grants intended to recognize projects that created energy, attention, or momentum within the ecosystem recently. These grants exist to encourage people to build, experiment, and ship publicly without feeling like they need years of history before receiving recognition. ACTIVATION GRANTS: These may be awarded along with one of the other categories of awards. Activation Grants : Small-to-medium grants intended to spark specific activity, events, or short-term ecosystem initiatives. These are intentionally temporary and outcome-oriented. Starting with our BUILDER GRANTS: we are recognizing 3 projects in this category and we are also including ACTIVATION GRANTS for each of these grantees as well. All three have been long term builders in the ecosystem and have driven attention to both Clanker and Farcaster via their apps. Hi there. I noticed that the Likes project was skipped in the first round, but I’m glad anyone can submit a project that supports the Clanker ecosystem (token created using Clanker) and Farcaster. My proposal is the @likesdotfun.eth by @yar0x you can just open the mini app and earn tickets that allow you to play the game (singleplayer mode) and earn $likes watching & betting on viral tiktoks! the round only takes 2 mins and its 100% risk-free since we’re in beta (they’re sponsoring the rewards) Project is in beta but people still can earn tokens. Added a screenshot after playing just 2 rounds (~$1.5 in likes token) @gmfarcaster @nounishprof @adrienne

I know a couple that may or may not be on your radar rn @adrienne @nounishprof 1. The guys from /football @supertaster.eth @ashmoney.eth @kmacb.eth @acgk.eth not only keeping our cozy football corner alive but running fantasy premier league for everyone on Farcaster to enter for free with prizes up for grabs provided by sponsorships they arranged themselves. Over 300 players registered for this season, it would be awesome to see an activation Grant for next seasons competition to help the guys grow the player pool and support the community of sports fans.

By the way, Farcaster dev rewards were ≈ $40k monthly. CEF = $70k (out of $110k). I think that we could somehow combine both initiatives (it would of course then be more like the Farcaster Fund rather than Clanker). But we clearly need to rework the Farcaster apps leaderboard, possibly with some human presence/touch (though it needs reworking anyway). Just thinking out loud. wdyt?

Grant funds are been sent out to 9 of our grantees who have completed the tax stuff. Shoutout to @splits for making this process so easy from collecting tax info to sending payments. Rest of payments will go out as we verify everyone.

If you're tagged in the announcement below, check your DCs! Next step is to collect tax info. We are using @splits for this (and thank you Splits for having this awesome option built in!) so we are collecting email addresses for this and answering any questions. So yes, you're getting a "best email?" message. Once this is complete, we'll start sending out grants, likely starting tomorrow. We know there's lots of feedback about this round of grants and we expected not everyone would agree with our choices and we are listening to that feedback. Keep in mind that hopefully there will be a grant round every month if things go well and we look forward to honoring different teams each month (with potential for repeat for great performers).
