Okay, this was very thought-provoking.
On one hand, I thought about it more and realized that the biggest problem with crypto today is its complete transparency. DeFi and web3 applications will never go mainstream as long as I can run a quick Arkham search and trace every single transaction you’ve ever made. It’s nonsense. Until this changes, crypto isn’t a real use case, just a social experiment.
At the same time, it also shows how far we are from a solution. The guy from Zama refers to their tradeoff, which allows over 30 operators to decrypt your data, as something we should accept, pointing out that the internet is also run by about 30 companies. But then where are the truly trustless systems? In the end, we come back to the fact that the current mainstream system, which we often criticize harshly, might actually be the most optimal tradeoff for the average user.
You simply need Revolut, Telegram and X and your digital social and financial life is complete, isn't it? @bankless
