Pros: - The best quality/cost of life ratio in Europe IMO - Super international, with a relatively young crowd - Tons of different events happening all the time - Many neighborhoods to choose from where to live, all well-connected and full of things to do Cons: - Sometimes you really do need to speak German or find someone who speaks - Hard to find a new apartment without overpaying - Around 4–5 months a year it gets dark by 4pm, but the main problem is that the city itself isn’t well-lit (parks, roads, etc) - Shops are closed on Sundays, and many places only work from ~11am to 7pm

I’ve lived here way too long to know what the pros/cons are anymore but the main reasons I see people leave quickly are not being able to find an apartment or burning out on the party scene

Have been living here for 16 years, the longest have lived anywhere. Could somewhat easily just pick up and go anywhere but stay here. From this biased perspective can only recommend you try one to two years to experience it fully with a good run of the seasons. Moved here from NYC and can say with absolute confidence that even on my worst days here it's better here.
