Should FarCon become a DAO? Security Council style board to decide where FarCon will be. Proposals to host FarCon should be transparent, with a public commenting period, ultimately letting a small trusted core to make the decision. Maybe also having smaller FarCons in smaller cities throughout the year?

not really sure how I feel about a DAO, if anything I think that extra layer of permanent organization is more confusing and hasn’t been necessary thus far while I’m all in favor of FarCons continuing to be by and for the community, I have a feeling the next one could be run by Merkle and I’ve accepted/am ok with that

I don’t think Merkle should be allowed to absorb FarCon without community consent. They took a long stance to NOT want to do internally, pay for it, and let the community do it.

The goals are at odds Grin wrote the purpose of the first one “deepening community and promoting collaboration” It’s very different than Merkles goal to grow the network This misalignment and misunderstanding is what allows the vocal Twitter critiques to take root - “hey Dan, why aren’t you letting people in to your conference?” Farcon has created a lot of brand value for farcaster, with the hands off approach I know I’m not answering your question (though I think dao is too much overhead ), just sharing a thought - and I think whatever happens we need to either have separate community conferences from corporate ones for the different goals, or if combined make sure everyone’s needs are being met

yeah for sure, I’m not saying that they or anyone else should just absorb FarCon without community approval/buy in the community driving FarCon has been one of the best things if not the best thing about it
