Dan has beaten this one into my head since I joined FC. My interpretation: we live in a macro context that we don’t control, markets and culture being two examples. Our job is to be at the right place, at the right time, and capture some of the magic.

Even if Merkle decides to absorb Farcon, we go Wild West and let anyone do whatever, or we have a selection committee (a la World Cup). As a community we should decide or make it clear. Clarity at least allows community members to contribute in an aligned way.

Should FarCon become a DAO? Security Council style board to decide where FarCon will be. Proposals to host FarCon should be transparent, with a public commenting period, ultimately letting a small trusted core to make the decision. Maybe also having smaller FarCons in smaller cities throughout the year?
