just booked a last-minute flight to be with one of my closest friends who’s grieving.
there’s nothing to fix. just showing up.
grief reorganizes everything, fast.
grateful to have the space to go when it matters.

that said… now taking suggestions on how to preserve 5–10 different desserts in a carry-on 😭 if i could pack the entire nyc dessert scene just to make her smile, i would.

I can’t read Japanese without google translate so I’ve never looked to hard at ingredients because I assume most stuff they make is pretty good compared to America :)

great advice!! i have so many desserts i want to pack—it might take me a full day just to buy everything 😅
do you have any japanese candy or chocolate snack recs that are free of artificial coloring and flavoring? i’ve got access to a bunch of japanese shops in nyc (family mart, teso, import groceries, etc), so i can probably find most of the usual stuff.

was also thinking maybe a japanese beverage or some fruit could work—something less processed, since we both try to avoid artificial ingredients and added sugar.
any favorites you’d recommend?

You want lots of wax paper and parchment paper. Wax paper will keep them from “bleeding” on each other and the parchment will help keep the dry. Line some large Tupperware with paper towels to adsorb any humidity and you should be good to go. Scrunch up the parchment as “packing” once you have everything stable inside. 

Tell the TSA it’s pastry and put in a a superset bin. Send it through first so you can grab it first before someone else’s bag smashes your tray.

If I did this in a sanitary way and then packed the other side with frozen gel packs, I don’t think she’d even be surprised 😂
