live down the block from family but in the suburbs or 40 mins away but closer to where you can see humans and do things within walking distance idk why i have a deep distaste for the utopian suburbia of the us of a. would love to be convinced to take the plunge

I'm at the end of a week in suburbia this week Though my heart is enriched seeing my extended family interact with my son, my soul has taken a big hit Thankfully we're back to the city in a few days

Suburbia sounds like a nightmare to me.. I'd either do fun city or move to a place with natural beauty

for me its a worst of both worlds situation. you don't have the dynamism of the city street or the space and nature you get further out. although close to family is its own benefit, especially with kids.

I’ve found Portland to be a middle ground. Many suburb neighborhoods have small shops. You get the benefit of space, but I can still walk out grab coffee, to the river, or to a nice dinner. I’ve really appreciated the balance it provides. Places I lived before Seattle, SF and NY don’t. We chose family

I get where U coming from. I'll take the burbs.I can only speak for where I am, but the city near me has a lot of crime, is massively more expensive, is over crowded, the air is ok-ish,almost no nature I'll take the better schools, parks, forests & less crime of the burbs & we have found plenty of interesting people
