Who in the netherlands can explain how y'all came around to Signal? nice! also why the f is everyone using TEMU as most downloaded app wtf?! at least switzerland, austria and a few have ChatGPT as most downloaded and Italy seems so old they just discovered TIkTok? like is it 2017 in Italy? Now I want to see the same map but for US states

Very interesting. I'm not on Signal myself, but as far as I can judge from my Dutch media consumption, it has a lot to do with 2 things: 1 - part of it is the conspiracy theorists who, especially since corona, don't feel they can trust the mainstream anything anymore 2 - a second wave is the absolute disgust for the way Musk went like a blind elephant in a porcelain cabinet with politics. Not just in the US, but also spreading fake news in Europe. So, there's part of turning your back to Twitter and Tesla.

Signal is not twitter though? at least in my experience the elephant in the room is WhatsApp not X for messaging

I definitely get a lot more of my information from private Signal groups after Twitter died, and a lot of people I know who left Twitter only exist on Signal now.
