Very interesting. I'm not on Signal myself, but as far as I can judge from my Dutch media consumption, it has a lot to do with 2 things:
1 - part of it is the conspiracy theorists who, especially since corona, don't feel they can trust the mainstream anything anymore
2 - a second wave is the absolute disgust for the way Musk went like a blind elephant in a porcelain cabinet with politics. Not just in the US, but also spreading fake news in Europe. So, there's part of turning your back to Twitter and Tesla.
