Shining a light on creators I admire? Not sure there's power enough in the world to do so, but let's start with these: @hamedns and @ashwinikumar.eth are not only creating wonderful onchain poetry, but they are also true community builders in the /poetry channel. Farcaster, and the rest of the world, is a better place with them in it. Also @camilags, who used the quirky nature of Alfafrens to cocreate onchain poetry in a dadaist way. A very special experience. Moving on to the media moguls. Of course we have @nounishprof and @adrienne who do great stuff, but I want to shine the light on @pauline-unik and @tako-unik of /los-fomos. Not only do they make fun videos, they also have carfully crafted a spicy, fun and edgy community around their media brand. As I'm almost running out of tag-allowance, the final spot will be shining on @irinaliakh, who is not only an amazing community builder, she is building an NGO that brings medical supplies to the frontlines in Ukraine, where Russian troops are viciously attacking everything that moves in an attempt to occupy a country. With her @crystalhearts organisation, she literally saves lives by harnessing the power of onchain crypto fundraising. And she does not just do that from a distance, but she also does stints in actually bringing supplies to the front herself. A true hero.
This year I built a grant fund for onchain poetry. The fund is financed through donations, degen tips and moxie earnings. I have experimented with some distribution mechanics, and will use the learnings to optimise that in the next year. In 2024, I have distributed a good amount to poets who have been taking a risk by making their work available as NFTs. Through direct grants, and by using @rounds and with my @hypersub subscribers as curators. By giving grantees a podium as poet of the month in my newsletter, I've been able to shine a spotlight on some amazing artists, such as @papa, @bochini and @wordstobepoetry. It was a good start in 2024, and I will built it out even better in 2025.
