I love taking photos of cute signs. In Japanese the word pig is bura (boo-rah) so I think that’s the play on words here. In American English, a “boo-boo” is an injury and you’d use it with small children: Did you fall and get a boo boo? Let me get you a bandage and kiss it and make it all better. “Boo!” is also what a ghost says when it’s trying to scare you. Languages are weird.

I can’t believe I mistyped the r/t twice. I’m still getting used to my new iPhone and I reset my autocorect keyboard because it was driving me insane auto correcting a bunch of words I use like is, the, and great into English names, like Isabella, Teresa, and Greta. Now I just look dumb because I can’t walk and type.

“Booboo” in Japanese refers to children calling cars “booboo,” so I think it combines the meanings of “the piggy’s booboo” and “cars” into one!

Correction Pichi san *: Pig in Japanese is 豚 which is read buta not bura. I'm also not sure how is connected to the parking name here lol. @anco is there some hidden meaning here?

The common sound games of languages actually give us a lot of information without us realizing it. In Turkish, “Bo-Bo” is a threat, but a vowel is used. Like Böö-Böö :)

What connections or observations can you make between the Japanese and English wordplays described here? Or, do you think this kind of sign appeals more to tourists or locals?
