I just spent 2 hours trying to figure out how I’m getting to one of the temples on my pilgrimage because all the transit apps suddenly gave me “no way there” errors.
I occasionally run into this in Japan, but the stakes are lower. I couldn’t ignore this message. I had to figure out why it was happening and fell down

Mardi Gras is over. The city is quiet. Now back to Japan planning mode.
My mom surprised me and told me she’d like to do my next pilgrimage with me!!!!

I just watched a grandfather (I assume) put his grandkids on the train and when they waved goodbye, he waved and looked very stoic. As soon as the train took off, he started sniffling and a few tears fell. And now I’m standing here all teary eyed because it was such a sweet moment.
