In the middle of a breakup over here… It might even be a little too early to start making new promises to myself, but the first one that comes to mind is this: to listen to myself more. To not mistake desire or hope for reality. To recognize the signs as they come, instead of only when it’s already too late. Not sure if this makes sense to anyone else…

I promised myself I would respectfully and with grace stand more for what matters to me. People-pleasing reduces not only your agency but your partner's too, because you aren't showing up as your full self. Agency is increased for both.
